Recycle Bin at UUMC
UUMC has an established recycling program. This program will help us recycle paper in our church and local community and earn money for the church office expenditures. The green and yellow bin is located in our parking lot. UUMC will be partnering with University Baptist Church, UUMC Nursery School, The Tanzanian Church, Girl Scouts, Wesley Foundation, Student Parking and Football Parking to sponsor paper drives.
The Paper Retriever program is designed to collect only the kinds of paper that can be recycled into newsprint.
Only the following items may be put into the bin:
- Newspapers
- Magazines
- Catalogs
- Direct Mail
- Junk Mail
- Fax Paper
- Office Paper
- School Paper
- Shredded Paper in clear plastic bags (Please punch several holes in the bag prior to tying it off. This keeps the bag from exploding when crushed in the truck)
Items that should NOT be recycled:
- Cardboard
- Phonebooks
- Cereal Boxes
- Kitchen/Bathroom paper products
- Milk Cartons
- Soda Cartons
- Food Cartons of any kind including paper plates
- Plastics
- Water Bottles
- Metals
- Glass
- Garbage
If for any reason you are uncertain about whether specific items can be placed in the bin, it is best to not use this bin for recycling.
The Payment will be as follows:
- 0 - 3.99 tons - $5.00 per ton
- 4 - 7.99 tons - $15.00 per ton
- 8 or more tons - $20.00 per ton
Example – If 4 tons are recycled, we will earn $60, but if 8 tons are recycled, we will earn $160.
Payment is received monthly as long as the check amount is above $15. If the check amount is below $15 for the month, the payment will be held (to cut down on postage costs) until the minimum is reached and then paid in full.
Please begin today and bring your paper recycling to the church recycling bin.
