The Pastor’s Small Group Study convenes every Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the parlor.

Children’s Sunday School/KidsUniversity (KU)

KidsUniversity, our Children’s Sunday School Program, is held every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the parlor.


UMD Football Parking

UUMC is looking for football parking volunteers. NO EXPERIENCE is necessary (instructions are provided). Come out and fellowship, make a positive difference in the community, and show some Maryland pride! Any amount of time you can volunteer is appreciated. Potluck Meal (November 11)

On the second Sunday of each month, we share a time of fellowship and enjoy a potluck meal in Memorial Hall (gym). Please bring a dish to share, if you are able. If you are not able to bring a dish to share, do not let this prohibit you from this time of food and fellowship. Volunteers are always needed to assist with set up and we thank everyone for their willingness to assist with clean up. Contact: Sarah Wakefield (

Thanksgiving Meal (November 22)

On Thanksgiving Day, the church will be open for students and guests to share in a Thanksgiving meal. Assistance is needed with providing the meal. We will be serving dinner at 1:00 pm in the gym. (1)              Loaves and Fishes Café (November 18)

On the third Sunday of each month, after worship, we enter into a time of service as we share a hot meal with the community. Volunteers are always welcome to visit with our guests, help serve, or assist in the kitchen. Set up and clean up assistance is needed also. (2)              CUCE Gift Bags

During the month of November, UUMC will be collecting items to include in gift bags for guests at the Prince George’s County Day Center of which UUMC is a sponsoring partner. Please bring tooth brushes, tooth paste, dental floss, and chap-stick. Items can be placed in the bin in the narthex.

(3)              Help-by-Phone Food Bank

Help by Phone, Ltd. serves seven food pantries, open five days a week, to meet the needs of large numbers of people who simply do not have enough food on any given day. Let’s support these food pantries by donating the following canned or dried food items in the original unopened packaging. Please confirm that the expiration dates have not passed.

Young Adult All Hallows Eve Pit Event (October 31)

Young Adults are invited to gather at the pit beginning at 8 p.m. for a safe alternative to Halloween activities. The event is free and open for all to enjoy a time of fellowship.

Veterans Day Observance (November 12)

The church office will be closed on Monday, November 12, to observe Veterans Day.

Conversation on A Way Forward (November 28)

Rev. Tom Salsgiver, Asst. to the Bishop in the Susquehanna Conference, and a member of the Commission on a Way Forward will speak on how the church will address issues of homosexuality at the Special Session of the General Conference in February. Please bring your lunch or plan to eat at one of the nearby restaurants.

This event will be held at Grace UMC, 712 W. Church Street, Hagerstown, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.



Rise Against Hunger (Dec 1)

Our Cluster is participating in a meal packaging event with Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) on December 1 at Mowatt Memorial UMC (40 Ridge Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770) from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. To sign up to volunteer, to donate, or for directions, go to . UUMC/UMD Study Break (Dec 10 -13)

UUMC Christmas Gathering (Dec 10) Buck Lodge Angel Tree

Our Advent Mission Project will be to assist the staff and students at our partner school, Buck Lodge Middle School. We will have an angel tree with ornaments that provide items needed for a family or a classroom. More information coming soon. Contact: Rev. Rochelle Andrews (



Tuesday Basketball

The gym is open Tuesdays between 8 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. for co-ed, pick-up basketball games for persons 18+. No charge. Contact: Tim Snyder (

Wednesday Yoga

Yoga is being offered in the gym on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Bring your yoga mat and water bottle. Classes are open to persons 14+ and are free of charge. Contact: Rev. Rochelle Andrews (

Thursday Zumba
